A Visit from Next Step Transition

Animal Inn Pet Resort & Spa loves working with the community!

Recently we had a great group of young adults come through from Next Step Transition out of North St. Paul.  A local veterinarian joined in on the fun, and did a mock exam on Blaze the Golden Retriever. This included checking his lymph nodes, listening to his heart, checking his ears and eyes, and cleaning his teeth. She was proud to report that Blaze was in excellent condition…AND his breath smelled so much better! The students were given an opportunity to listen to Blaze’s heart with the stethoscope. Blaze was a really good sport and enjoyed giving the students kisses every chance he could!

After the vet presentation, the group was able to tour our facility and see where the pets stay and play while they vacation with us. We answered lots of questions, from this very inquisitive group.  I think everyone walked away with a better understanding of just how much effort and care goes into each animals stay with us.

Then we all took a stroll across the parking lot to the training facility that operates next door.  There they were able to witness a short obedience presentation, with a beautiful German Shepherd. They never realized just how many tricks and commands a dog can learn. I think the kids were most impressed by this part of the tour.

The day concluded with a “puppy shower”.  A lucky little golden puppy that one of the teachers brought, was showered with gifts from all of the kids.  Gifts included dog toys, and homemade treats!  This puppy was PAW-sitively beside himself with glee!
