Frequently Asked Questions
We are so happy to have both indoor and outdoor areas for your pup to enjoy! We try to keep your pups outside as much as possible when weather allows and have over 42,000 square feet of outdoor fenced in play yards! Typically the yard your pup spends the most time in for daycare is a 3200 square foot yard which is covered by industry leading turf K-9Grass.
We play indoors! We have two indoor play area connected to our daycare yards that pups can enjoy when the weather is not conducive to being outside. Our indoor play area as well as our break areas for the pups all are equipped with air conditioning and heat to keep your pup healthy and comfortable!
We do everything we can to keep your pup healthy and happy while they are staying with us! Some of the steps we take each day include:
- Every indoor space within our facility is equipped with HEPA filters in order to help keep illnesses at bay.
- We use specific disinfectants tailored for pet facilities and disinfect throughout the day and every night.
- We have strict vaccine and fecal testing protocols in place. While we know many local places do not require an annual fecal test, this testing has proven invaluable and has prevented dogs with parasites coming into our countless times.
- Open communication with our clients. If something is going around we are sure to let you know and let you know if we know your pup has been exposed to an illness to help prevent further spread.
- Our owners have taken classes dealing with zoonotic illnesses and disease prevention and apply their knowledge every day throughout our facility from protocols on how employees move about the facility and interact with dogs to our cleaning procedures.
Daycare pups start their day with a big group playtime. All daycare dogs do get a lunch break in the middle of the day (usually around 12:30-1:30). Then your pup goes back out to play! During this lunch hour you can add additional enrichment opportunities for your pup from snuffle mats, kongs or brain games! You can add these a la carte, or you can sign up for one of our enrichment punch cards and your furry family member will get a rotating option of enrichment opportunities each day they are here. It’s important to note that some dogs may get additional breaks during their day as needed.
Just like young children, dogs can get overstimulated or tired with lots of activity during their day. We know that each furry family member is unique and has different needs. Puppies and older dogs especially may need additional breaks to allow them to rest and relax during their day. We want to make sure your pup is loving daycare and additional nap times for some pups can be beneficial.
Brain games are a fun training session during the day for your pup! These sessions are not meant to work on specific behaviors, more so they are for fun and to get the mind working. Things trained during brain games can be something like touching their nose to a target pole, weaving through cones or scent work!
Kongs are a rubber toy meant to be filled with treats for your pup! We freeze the kongs with different flavors and treats from pumpkin to turkey dinner to keep things exciting for your pup. If your pup has allergies, we can accommodate the filling to be a good fit for your furry family.
Snuffle mats are like puzzle feeders! We hide treats in various compartments and different areas of the mats to keep your pup thinking and busy!
Our owners don’t just love dogs but have actual college degrees in Animal Behavior Management and Exotic Animal Training and Management. They also have worked at some of the top facilities in the world. Our owner, Corwin, spent nine years as the lead trainer at Beckman’s Dog Training a premier dog training facility while Katie spent nearly ten years as a Senior Animal Trainer at the San Diego Zoo caring for animals and training ambassador animals such as cheetahs, sea lions and wolves. They apply the leading industry practices they have learned to Animal Inn Pet Resort and are hands on working in every area of our pet resort helping care for your pets and getting to know them.
In addition to our owners, we also have wonderful staff including actual dog trainers working in our daycare yards! By having a trainer present in our daycare yards with our other staff members we are able to set your furry family up for success throughout their entire day. Each employee also takes customized classes on a variety of topics from pet behavior, cleaning practices and more!
Finally, we are different in that we have tons of room for your furry family to run and play! We are especially proud of our beautiful outdoor play yards. We have over 40,000 square feet of outdoor play space! While we do play inside during inclement weather, we still make sure your pups are given multiple potty breaks outdoors throughout the day, helping avoid any potty training confusion or issues.
